Ashkii Bida  means “Boy’s Uncle” in Diné Bizaad (Navajo language). When Brent was in his late twenties, he became an uncle to a nephew named, “Ashkii”, which means “boy”. Bida’ means, “his uncle”. So Brent was given the name, Ashkii Bida’, Boy His Uncle, or Boy’s Uncle. In Navajo way, “da'” is a term reserved only for a man’s, sister’s, male children. There is a different term used for paternal nephews.
